Adventures at the Sandfest

The Texas Sand Sculpture Festival was on again. This was our first time visiting the sculptures. According to information we received, it was the 12th year this event has taken place and it is one of the largest beach festivals in Texas.
Walking on the sun-soaked beach we observed many artistic creations from the very young and inexperienced to the masters of this skill.
The sand fest stretches about a half mile (it sure seemed longer) and is located on the Port Aransas Beach on Mustang Island.
This year the sand fest is boasting 24 Master sculptors and according to a write up is now the largest sand sculpting competition in the USA. The attraction brings as many as 100,000 people. The day we were there it seemed all 100,000 were in attendance.
The three day sandfest starts on Friday when the sculpting begins and ends on Sunday when they are judged.
Our good friends, Mike and Rose, invited us to go with them to enjoy the sights. Thanks to you both for a great day.!!!!

These are fantastic.Wow!!!!! The only thing I could ever make with the sand is with a bucket and even that didn't work well all the time.
Did you try to make some kind of sculpture????????I would have liked to have seen that one.
Gee I miss you guys so much. There just isn't anyone around here at
all to do things with or just to hang out with.
Have a safe trip to Kansas. I believe that is where you are going first.

Thanks for the photos of the sand sculptures! There is a little bit of that going on at Ocean City, but nothing like what you saw.
